Benjamin Mautner graduated from Princeton University in 2011, earning a BA in Psychology. His senior thesis, entitled “Fateful Course: Addiction as Choice and Medical Destiny,” examined the causes and correlates of addiction with a focus on the neurological underpinnings of addictive behaviors. While at Princeton, Benjamin Mautner received the German Department Book Award and studied abroad at the University of Edinburgh, where he read philosophy and played on the varsity lacrosse team.
Currently, Benjamin Mautner is a Research Student at Inova Health Systems.
Benjamin Mautner, Volunteer Work
Benjamin Mautner recently completed a Post-Baccalaureate program at George Mason University and works as an Emergency Medical Technician at the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad. In addition, he volunteers at Loudon Therapeutic Riding as a horse leader and side walker for children participating in the equine-assisted therapy program. Founded in 1974, LTR seeks to empower and improve the lives of people with cognitive, physical, and psychological disabilities through the benefits of equine-assisted activities and therapies, as well as providing training and education in hippotherapy.
Following graduation from Princeton, Benjamin Mautner worked as a scriptwriter for the Diane Rehm Show, a nationally syndicated radio program, and later as an account executive at Ogilvy Public Relations handling private and governmental health care and life sciences accounts. While at Ogilvy, Benjamin Mautner received company wide recognition for his role in helping to support the AIDS 2012 conference in Washington DC. Previously, Benjamin Mautner held internships at the National Institutes of Health and United States Justice Department, as well as volunteering at the Community for Creative Nonviolence, DC’s largest homeless shelter, and the DC Youth Detention Center on Mt. Olivet Road.
